Birth Certificate and National Identification Number, NIN have been described as vital requirements for national planning and child’s development
A representative of the United Nations children education fund, UNICEF, Mrs Sharon Oladiji stated this when she visited the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo in his palace in Akure, Ondo State, alongside the federal commissioner representing Ondo State in the national population commission, Dr Diran Iyantan.
Mrs Oladiji who is in Ondo State to sensitize parents on the essence of birth registration maintained that capturing of children between the ages of zero and seventeen would commence next month.
According to her, the exercise is to enable government to plan properly towards giving children in the country quality educational and social services.
The UNICEF representative who hinted that the registration which would include monitoring of children development encouraged parents to make their children available for capturing
The Federal commissioner representing Ondo State in the national population commission, Dr Diran Iyantan urged parents to have their National Identification Number, NIN in place to facilitate proper registration of their children.
Responding, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo who expressed optimism that the proposed data capturing would be helpful, donated an office for the exercise and advised UNICEF to incorporate local government for adequate capturing.
