The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Babatola Afolabi, has honoured eleven officers of the command and some local hunters for their gallantry efforts in apprehending thirty-two suspects involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in the state.
The officers, including OC Crack Squad, SP Hussaini, DSP Martina Panchiri, ASP Dahiru Tajudeen
ASP Salman Adamu, and Inspector Ibrahim Musa.
also recovered four vehicles and an astonishing sum of N1.689 million from the culprits.
Among the arrested suspects, one Mustapha Mohammed stands out as the alleged perpetrator of the abduction of Zainab Abbas, the wife of a prominent Adamawa State High Court Judge.
The operation marks a substantial victory against criminal activities within the state.
CP Afolabi while presenting commendation plaques to the eleven outstanding officers and the hunters said their efforts had brought huge relief and a sense of security to communities in Adamawa State.
The Police Commissioner commended the officers for the exceptional acts of dedication and bravery displayed by the officers and some local hunters involved in the operation.
Afolabi said “These individuals, alongside some vigilant hunters, showcased unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the community. Their dedication has undoubtedly contributed to the positive outcome of this operation”
The Adamawa Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje shared a comprehensive list of items that were seized from the arrested suspects to include 13 AK-47 Rifles, five locally-made pistols, 59 rounds of live ammunition (AK48) 7.62mm, 72 rounds of live ammunition (Pistol) 0.6 mm, and four Pump Action shotguns.
“These dangerous weapons are now off the streets, ensuring the safety of the citizens of Adamawa,” the police command’s spokesman disclosed.
Adamawa State is one of the three northeastern states bedeviled by Boko Haram insurgency in addition to the rampaging activities of an outlawed youth group popularly called “shila boys” as well as kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates.
