The Ojomoluda of Ijebu-Owo, Oba Kofoworola Olatunbosun Oladoyinbo, Aruliwo III says there is no special rite or ritual relating to Igogo festival that is being performed in Ijebu kingdom.
Oba Ojomo disclosed this while featuring on a live social media broadcast clearing the air on the news making the rounds over his refusal to participate in Igogo festival.
The first class monarch who noted that the original intention of celebrating Igogo festival was associated with love and peace has eluded. He claimed that igogo is not a compulsion for the people of Ijebu-Owo.
The retired Army General expressed displeasure with the way people around the Olowo of Owo are handling the scenarios towards the celebration of this year’s Igogo festival of his brother, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.
Oba Ojomo however appeal to the people of Ijebu kingdom to eschew violence and let peace reign before, during and after the festival.
The monarch who emphasized that Ijebu-Owo people are symbolically known for celebrating Ogun festival from inception cautioned those fanning the ember of discord to be mindful of the societal implications and allow peace reign in Owo local government Area.
Some of the chiefs of Ijebu kingdom, High Chief Abadaiki, the Akowa, High Chief Ojigbo, Chief Ojomobori, Chief Owabumuwa, High Chief Aruwaji and High Chief Uwangwe, the Secretary to Ojomoluda narrated their experiences on the ill-treatment and disrespect metted to the throne of Ojomoluda in the celebration of Igogo festival in the last 3 years.
The Chiefs claimed they had rejected Igogo festival for the people of Ijebu-Owo and remain focused on celebration of the annual Ogun Festival.
