The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Idris, has empowered around 500 women with two bags of groundnut of 100 kilogramme and cash grant of N100,000 each in Kangiwa, headquarters of Arewa Local Government area of Kebbi state.
Hajiya Nasare Idris, said Arewa local government was the first to enjoy the empowerment programme which would be extended to the 21 local government areas of the state to assist women engage in trade and commerce for self reliance.
The Governor’s wife also appealed to traditional rulers in the state to provide support and cooperation for the government to develop the education sector with quality and standard education.
According to her, quality education would be attain without the input of traditional rulers especially district heads.
The member, representing Arewa constituency in the state House of Assembly, Nura Kangiwa, thanked the Governor’s wife for the gesture, assuring that the House of Assembly would give all necessary cooperation to Governor idris led administration to achieve its developmental goals.
The Chairman Arewa local government Area, Alhaji Sani Aliyu, appealled to the beneficiary to use the money and groundnut given to them to generate income for them to become self reliance.
