Womanifesto, a group of over 500 activists, NGOs and practitioners have outrightly condemned the attack on the Ondo Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development in Ondo State,Dr Bunmi Osadahun and demanded immediate prosecution of Ondo State APC Ward 1 Chairman Olumide Awolumate AKA CUBA to the full extent of the law.

In a Statement signed by the co- convener, Womanifesto, Dr Abiola Afolabi-Akiyode in Lagos, the group condemned in very strong terms, the assault on the Ondo commissioner, Dr  Osadahun.

In a viral video, Awolumate was seen beating Dr Osadahun and hitting her with a chair in the presence of
various witnesses, alledgedly over the sharing of palliatives.

The statements notes that the situation is a replica of the varying degrees of violence against women across Nigeria.

It observes that the deepest disregard for women in Nigeria was displayed in public without any form of reservation or remorse.

It also explains that irrespectable selves of section 355 of Crimninal Code Act of Nigeria which states that “any person who unlawfully assaults another and thereby does harm, is guilty of felony and liable to imprisonment for three years”.

The statement stresses that the Violence Against Persons ProhibitionAct(2015) states clearly that “a person who will fully causes conflicts physical injury on another person by means of any weapon,
substance or object,commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment not exceeding
five years.

It express displeasure with the silence of Ondo state government on the matter considering the fact that Ondo is one of the states that have domesticated the VAPP law
