With INEC announcement of Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November 2024 , the Sure Advocacy For Better Ondo State , SABOS has taken it upon itself to sensitise and mobilize for good leadership and governance ahead of the 2024 Guber polls.


Part of the moves was a summit held for political stakeholders in Akure tagged ” Competency, the core value of leadership”

Delivering the lecture at the summit , a Professor of History at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Adedayo Afe faulted adoption of indirect primaries by political parties describing it as undemocratic and a major factor causing intra-party crises resulting in many pre-election cases in the court and posing serious challenge to good leadership .

Speaking on ‘Internal Party Democracy As Panacea To Unfairness And Injustice To Political Aspirations In Nigeria ” , the don explained that the adoption of indirect primaries gave undue advantage to serving elected officials and political appointees who were aspirants making them more powerful than others .


Professor Afe then asked political parties to  adopt direct primaries in choosing their candidates so as to entrench internal Democracy within the the parties.

He also emphasized on restructuring of parties with a view to reducing overbearing tendency of state governors and presidents.


In a remark, the Director General of SABOS, Mr. Yunus Adogba said the summit was organised to arouse consciousness of Nigerians towards choosing the right leaders ahead of future elections

Mr Adogba noted that bad leadership had led Nigeria to her current state, hence the need for the electorate to avoid repeating same mistakes in the choice of those that would govern them .
