PARENTS HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO ALWAYS MAKE THEIR CHILDREN AVAILABLE FOR POLIO IMMUNIZATION.
THIS IS TO KICK OUT DEVASTATING DISEASES WHICH AFFECT THE CHILDREN AS THE WORLD CELEBRATES POLIO DAY.
MARKING THIS YEAR POLIO DAY, ONDO STATE ROTARY CLUB TOOK AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TO SENSITIZE NIGERIANS IN OTHER TO ACCEPT THE IMPORTANCE OF POLIO VACCINATION.
SPEAKING with POSITIVE FM IN AKURE THE PRESIDENT OF PRESIDENTS, ROTARY CLUB, ONDO STATE, ROTARIAN SEMIU ADIGUN SAID THE ROTARY CLUB HAD BEEN DOING ALOT TO ERADICATE POLIO IN THE WORLD.
ALSO SPEAKING, ANOTHER ROTARIAN, POLIO REPRESENTATIVE, ONDO STATE, MRS BOSEDE AKINYANJU ADVISED PARENTS TO ALWAYS MAKE THEIR CHILDREN AVAILABLE FOR VACCINATIONS.
ONE OF THE STAKEHOLDERS, the STATE IMMUNIZATION OFFICER, MRS COMFORT OLAGUNDOYE who APPRECIATED ROTARY CLUB FOR BEING IN THE FOR FRONT TO TOTALLY ERADICATE POLIO IN THE WORLD advised parents to always immunize their children against killer diseases.
W.H.O. STATE REPRESENTATIVE, DR DAVID DELE POINTED OUT THAT THE ORGANIZATION HAD STRENGTHENED SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM TO CURB OUTBREAK OF POLIO IN THE WORLD.
ADDRESSING THE CONGREGATION, PERMANENT SECRETARY, ONDO STATE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE DEVELOPMENT BOARD, DR ADEGOKE AKANBIEMU REPRESENTED BY DR AKINPELUMI ADEFESOYE THANKED THE ROTARY CLUB FOR IDENTIFYING POLIO FOR ITS TOTAL ERADICATION.
THE PEOPLE CELEBRATED THE DAY WITH DANCE AS THEY CARRIED OUT THE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.
For the past thirteen years, Ondo State government is celebrating polio free status because mothers, caregivers such as the rotary club had been providing means to curb the outbreak of the disease in the country.
- This is because the state government also provided the needed support such as funding, training health workers, awareness programs, among others, for the state to maintain its polio free status.
