Since becoming a residential area for over 20 years , the entire road network within communities at Orita Obele Estate in Akure, the Ondo State capital have been neglected.


The roads which had gone from worse to worst over the years resulting in many residents abandoning their vehicles while others grapple with constant repair of damaged vehicles caused by the poor state of the roads.


A resident , Mr Henry Agbi lamented that Okada operators take undue advantage of the deplorable state of the roads to bill residents heavily with fares ranging between #300 to #1000 from roadblock junction to the estate depending on the time of the day.


Residents expressed sadness over continuous neglect of roads in the estate claiming that many other residential estates opened at the same time with Orita Obele estate have had their roads tarred .


Another resident, Mrs Toyin Ojo explained that such was the neglect of Orita Obele that government did not for once consider it for mere tractor grading as a form of relief for the residents .


She pointed out that once a while grading of the roads had always been done through communal efforts or by some politicians seeking votes during electioneering campaigns.


Residents of Orita Obele Estate have now appealed to the present administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to urgently consider Orita Obele roads and bring succour to the peace loving people who had suffered untold hardship with the bad roads over the years #
