The inaugural cohort of Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) Fellows in Ondo State, proudly sponsored by the United States Consulate General, embarked on a transformative educational journey from November 1st to 10th, 2023.

This dynamic initiative, titled “Digify Ondo,” unfolded its mission at two prominent secondary schools in Akure: St. Michael’s Secondary School and The Apostolic Faith Secondary School.

The primary objective was to combat digital illiteracy among students and educators, effectively dismantling the barriers to educational advancement at the secondary school level.

Over a hundred students have been direct beneficiaries of this enlightening digital training programme.

 

Equipped with certificates of participation, these students now possess the practical skills necessary to navigate computer systems and excel in Computer-based Tests (CBTs) as they prepare to step into higher education.

 

In the words of Adeniran Olamide, a participant from St. Michael’s Secondary School, “The training was an eye-opener, significantly blessing all the participants.”

 

The CYFI Fellows, spearheading this groundbreaking endeavor, include Sunday Akinrelere, Fatsuma Adedeji, Uche Udekwe, Damilola Oyeyemi, and Chiamaka Osueke.

Their unwavering commitment to empowering the youth and bridging the digital divide has illuminated the path for Ondo’s future leaders.
