With the country grappling with economic crunch , communities have been encouraged to engage in more communal efforts and self help to relieve some challenges facing the people.

 

The Owa of Idanre , Oba Frederick Aroloye gave the call at the launch of the first community based book in Idanre, ” Iwe Itan agbegbe Yaba, Idanre 1959-2023″

Represented by High Chief Rufus Akinnawonu , the monarch said present day realities had shown that government only could not meet all the needs of the people hence they should support the government.

 

He lauded the people of Yaba Community for their initiative to author a book for posterity and enjoined the other communities to follow suit.

Reviewing the book , High Chief Charles Akinde recommended it as very good source of reliable information about the Yaba Community .

 

He however called for the use of mother tongue in schools and public offices like it’s done in developed countries so that the younger generation would key well into historical events of their societies.

 

The Chief launcher and the member representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency , Mr Festus Akingbaso a represented by his Aide , Mr Akinrinlola Akinsote praised the community for being a trail blazer in preserving history.

The author of the book and secretary of the community, Chief Thompson Akinwoleola explained that they embarked on the book project for future generations to learn of their experiences noting the support and encouragement he got from the palace while putting the book together.

 

Another community leader in Yaba , Mr Festus Adelakun expressed joy that the book saw the light of the day having being part of the implementation committee.

 

The book – , ” Iwe Itan Agbegbe Yaba, Idanre 1959-2023″ is a one hundred and thirteen page book detailing the existence and other historical facts about Yaba Community in Idanre which was founded on 7th July , 1977.

 

The occasion was attended by dignitaries including the Chief Imam of Idanre , Alhaji Buraimoh Jimoh , the Yeyelobun of Idanre , High Chief Adejisola Akinfolarin , the Olu of Atofo , Chief Olugbenga Akinnagbe , the media aide to Owa of Idanre, Mr Ganiyu Agbelusi and Prince and Mrs Doris Daso .
