....Association seeks timely approval of Medical College autonomy by Ekiti State Government…..
The National University Commission, NUC has considered and approved postgraduate doctorate degree medical academic programmes for Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti for the 2023/2024 Academic session.
The approval contained in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Edward Olanipekun also include consideration and approval of some undergraduate degree courses.
Reacting to the development, the Global President, EKSU Alumni Association Worldwide, Engr Dipo Bamisaye describes it as a good gesture with the rising profile of the institution among comity of universities.
Engr Bamisaye in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said the development coupled with the Alumni Association’s strive to ensure the University meet up with standard and best practices in the world would be an added advantage.
The Alumni Association uses the medium to call on its Grand Patron, the Visitor to the University and the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji to expedite action on granting autonomy to the Medical College for effectiveness and efficiency.
According to the Alumni Association, the autonomy will enable the approved postgraduate doctorate degree courses and other medical courses meet up with situation demands.
Engr Bamisaye noted that the Alumni Association will continue to have meaningful engagement with the Management of the institution towards the advancement of the University.
Postgraduate medical doctorate, Ph.D degree courses approved include, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Paediatric & Child Health, Public Health, Laboratory Medicine, Medicine and Surgery.
Others approved by NUC in the Undergraduate degree courses are Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Biochemistry, Food Science and Nutrition, Health Education, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mass Communication, Social Work, Intelligence and Security Studies, International Relations and Public Administration.
Meanwhile, the University also secured full accreditation for forty eight courses by the NUC.
