The Court of Appeal in Abuja has set aside the judgment of the Nasarawa State Election Petitions Tribunal that sacked Abdulahi Sule as governor of the State.
A three-member panel of the Appellate Court therefore affirmed the re-election of Sule as Governor of Nasarawa State.
Delivering judgment, the panel held that the Tribunal erred in law in concluding that Sule did not win majority of the votes cast in the election.
The state election petition tribunal had earlier sacked the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, who was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
According to INEC, Sule polled a total of 347,209 votes to defeat his closest opponent, who secured 283,016 votes.
The tribunal, in a split decision on 2nd of last month, sacked Sule of the All Progressives Congress and declared David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party, winner of the election.
However, Sule, through his counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun, approached the appellate court and asked it to upturn the judgment of the tribunal.
Meanwhile different groups with placards and posters bearing the picture of Governor Sule besieged the premises of the appeal court in solidarity of the Nasarawa state governor.
