The Kwara Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of eight travellers at Oke Onigbin, along Omu -Aran-Ilorin road, in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement the Public Relation Officer (PRO) Busari Basambo on behalf of the Sector Commander, Mr Dawulung said the fatal road traffic crash occured at Oke Onigbin, along Omu -Aran, at 7:40 p.m.

According to the statement the accident involved a Mack Trailer and a Mitsubishi bus.

Commander Dawulung said that immediately they received the report of the crash, FRSC standby rescue team at Omu -Aran Unit Command were immediately mobilised to the scene, for rescue.

The statement said preliminary investigations revealed that the Mitsubishi space wagon (enroute to Ilorin) while overtaking a bus, collided with an oncoming Mack Trailer.

The statement noted that the incident resulted to the death of 8 persons on the spot, 1 male adult, 3 female adults and 4 children, while 6 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

It said that the victims were conveyed to Ajisafe Hospital Omuaran for medical attention, while the eight corpses were deposited at the Mortuary of Adeyemo Hospital, Omuaran.

The statement advised drivers to avoid night journey, over speeding,as well as taking rest for thirty minutes after every 4 hours driving.
