The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Prof Adenike Oladiji has advocated firm implementation of policies to encourage education of the girl child .

Professor Oladiji spoke in a lecture titled Promoting women’s right for quality education and health organized by Precision Online Newspaper, PON, to mank its 3rd anniversary.

She said such policies would allow the girl child to continue her education even while engaged in maternity affairs.

The vice chancellor pointed out that well informed and educated women would break the Cycle of poverty and ignorance as they contributed actively to their Communities, challenge questionable social norms and invest in the education of their children.

Also Speaking, the Chief Imam of Akure land, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi- Akorede described women as the backbone of successful men and advised the women folk to always conduct themselves in a dignified manner to gain respect of the men.

The Chairperson of the occasion, an associate professor, University Of medical Sciences , unimed, Ondo , Dr Yemisi Jeff- Agboola pointed out that educating women was a catalyst for social and economic development.

Dr Jeff – Agboola therefore called for breaking down of barriers and creating an inclusive and enabling environment to promote women’s right to education and health.

The Founder of Precision Online Newspaper, PON, Mr Olusegun Adebuḿiti said the lecture was to direct attention to series of societal issues affecting them.

The event attracted members of the public, friends and associates of precision online newspaper.
