Students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo state on Tuesday embarked on a protest over delay in the commencement of their second semester examination.
The students in their numbers barricaded the school gates with the Student Union Bus, chanting solidarity songs.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the Students Union President, Comrade Ayobami Adedara alleged the Management of the institution of being insensitive to their plight and described such as unacceptable.
Comrade Adedara noted that the examination was billed to start on Monday but could not and no notice was issued to that effect.
According to him, lecturers and members of staff of the Polytechnic have vowed not to partake in the conduct of the examinations except their nine months salary arrears were paid.
He lamented that some of their mates in other institutions had graduated.
Comrade Adedara maintained that the students could no longer bear the side effects of not conducting the examination at stipulated time as it would have adverse effects on the academic calendar and their finances.
Correspondent Olumide Abudu report that the students disallowed both vehicular and human movement in and out of the Polytechnic premises.
