Everyday is not Christmas so says the popular slang but today being the 25th of December, 2023 is Christmas.

Christmas is celebrated on December 25th and is both a sacred religious holiday and a global cultural day fast becoming a commercial phenomenon as well.
The name Christmas comes from the season’s first service, the Christ Mass.
For two millennia, people around the world had been observing Christmas with traditions and practices that were both religious and secular in nature.
Christians celebrate Christmas Day as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Savior of the world whose teachings form the basis of the Christian faith.
Popular customs characterizing the celebration include exchange of gifts, varieties of decorations – Christmas trees and lights , fireworks church services and sharing meals , gifts with families , friends , colleagues , workers and of course receiving the Santa Claus .
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Ondo State chapter, Reverend father Olorunfemi Ologunwa and Pastor Olayemi Adekunle described Christmas as a season of praise and thanksgiving for the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ
The religious leaders however advised Christians against being carried away by the euphoria of the Yuletide considering the current economic situation in the country.
The acting governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa charged the state’s residents to reflect on the lessons of the birth of Jesus Christ .
Some residents of Akure including Mr Olu Bright and Ambassador Oluwatosin Daramola also spoke in respect of the season.
December 25th Christmas Day is a global holiday.
