•••Assures Commanders, officers at Candlelight Procession

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has assured that he will continue full support to Amotekun security network as demonstrated by his late principal Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu when he was alive.
The Governor gave the assurance when he received in his office in Akure, the Commanders and officers of Western Nigeria Security Network popularly known as Amotekun Corps, who converged on the Ondo State capital on Wednesday, to hold a special candlelight procession in honour of the Late Governor Akeredolu.
This is the first time this kind of event be held in Yorubaland since Amotekun corps was formed by the Southwest Governors’ forum.
The officers, led by the Corps commanders of Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti States, began their procession from Cathedral area through Oyemekun-Oba Adesida road, Akure to the Governor’s office, Alagbaka, where Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa received them.
Aiyedatiwa who praised late Arakunrin Akeredolu’s vision in establishing Amotekun Corps with other brother Governors in the Southwest, vowed that he would be committed to the security agency like his former principal.
Aiyedatiwa extolled his late boss as a man who left enduring legacies of which Amotekun Corps remains a testament of his doggedness and resilience.
“He was a man of great courage. He spoke and everyone listened. His exit has created a vacuum that has to be filled. We celebrate him for his vision and all he stood for. Aketi impacted a lot of lives” Aiyedatiwa said.
Addressing pressmen at the end of the procession which terminated at Ondo State Amotekun Corps Headquarters, Algabaka Akure, the State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye said the event was organized in honour and to pay last respect to the late governor for leading the format of the agency at the critical time in the history of yorubaland.
Akogun Adeleye who is the Chairman of the Southwest Amotekun Commanders, commended the good works that late Governor Akeredolu had done in the area of security and the people would not forget him.
He said, “We are all living testimonies of the fact that the security in the Southwest has greatly improved, we are of resolute and determined in continuing the good work that he started, that’s our own contribution in immortalizing our great leader.
“Late Governor Akeredolu will be greatly missed by everybody in Amotekun.
“The death of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu will not affect the operations of Amotekun. We already have the reassurance from Governor Aiyedatiwa that he will continue the good works that Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu was doing in Amotekun. We don’t have any fear at all,” Adeleye said.
On his part, the Oyo State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Colonel Nathaniel Olayanju Rtd, opined that the Southwest Commanders of Amotekun are very proud of the Late Governor Akeredolu, adding that “his call to glory is just a phase because he will continue to be with us. We were with him and we will continue to be with him.
“We’ve been assured by Governor Aiyedatiwa that he will continue Late Akeredolu’s works in Amotekun, we are not afraid,” he said.
