The Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, has described as unfortunate, the explosion in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday night.
The Speaker, in statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Musa Abdullahi Krishi, called for proper investigation of the incident and possible arrest and prosecution of those suspected to have caused the explosion.
The Speaker said it was terrifying for an explosion in a peaceful and populated ancient city like Ibadan.
According to the Speaker It is more worrisome that it happened at a time when the government is tackling various security issues and threats to lives and property.
Dr. Tajudeen while praying to God to comfort the victims and their families, extended his condolences to the government and the people of Oyo State,
Ibadan Explosion, Sad, Unfortunate- Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commiserated with his Oyo state counterpart, Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo state government and the people of Oyo state over the Ibadan explosion.
The Governor in a condolence message by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described the incident as sad and unfortunate.
“I commiserate with my Oyo state counterpart, Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Government and the entire people of Oyo state especially those affected by the Ibadan explosion. It is a really sad thing happening at the beginning of the year.
“This incident is not only sad and unfortunate but also a huge economic blow to many families in the affected area”.
The Governor pray for those who lost their loved ones that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss and those who has lost property that God will help them to recover their loss.
Governor Adeleke, while calling for a thorough investigation into the incident, commended security operatives and rescue workers who swung into action since the incident happened.
Kwara Gov commiserates with Oyo Govt on Ibadan Explosion
Kwara State Governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with the people and Government of Oyo State on the tragic explosion in parts of Ibadan.
Governor Abdulrasaq, who described the explosion as unfortunate, sympathized with the families of the victims and commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and his team for the swift responses since the incident occurred.
According to the Governor, the incident again underlines the need for operators to adopt global best practices in mining operations and to prioritise safety at all times.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq called for objective probe to unravel what truly happened to forestall a repeat of such traumatic incident.
He prayed God to forgive the dead and wish speedy recoveries for those injured in the explosion.
