Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated host, Cote D’Ivoire 1-0 in their second Group A match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON
Captain William Troost-Ekong’s 55th minute spot kick handed the three-time champions the invaluable three points against their opponents
The match which was regarded as a Must-win for the Eagles saw coach Jose Pesiero show his best tactical approach as the Eagles went out to stymie the dangers of the ferocious Ivoriens in their homestead.
The win puts the 2013 winners second in Group A same points as leaders Equitorial Guinea but lesser goal advantage.
Cote D’Ivoire on their part will need to beat Equitorial Guinea in their last Group match while Nigeria will need a draw against bottom-placed Guinea Bissau to reach the Round of 16.
Nigeria will take on Guinea Bissau in their final Group Stage match on Monday by 6pm Same time the Cote D’Ivoire will battle Equitorial Guinea.
