Residents of G.R.A Ilokun besides Radio Nigeria Ado Ekiti have again appealed to the State Government to relocate the dumping site in the area.
The residents including landlords and landladies who made the appeal today during a peaceful protest over the effect of the dumping site on their health, blocked the road leading to the site and turned back waste vans.
Speaking with Newsmen the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the community, Mr Sunday Afolabi said the thick smoke coming out from the dumping site had adverse effects on their health, particularly children residing in the area.
Mr Afolabi pointed out that several letters had been written to the appropriate authorities, without any step
He maintained that relocation of the dumping site was the only way to safe them from untimely death.
Also, one of the victims, Pastor Victoria-Modupe Olayinka said the residents particularly children had become regular patients in various hospitals
Pastor Olayinka therefore appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to save the souls of residents of G.R.A Ilokun ,Ado Ekiti by relocating the dumping site to safer area.
However, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Chief Tosin Aluko who led the top officials of her ministry to the area, assured the residents that Government would do needful so that the waste dump site would not affect their health.
