The Ondo State Government has assured that all entitlements due workers of its tertiary institutions would not be denied them.
Speaking while playing host in his office to members of the Joint Action Committee of Tertiary Institutions in Ondo State led by its Chairman, Comrade Tayo Ogungbeni, the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Chief Olayide Adelami, mni, said the present administration under the leadership of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa will not deny any worker in the state of its legitimate dues.
The Deputy Governor described his boss as a compassionate leader who is ever committed to the well-being of everyone irrespective of status, belief or leanings.
Chief Adelami promised to present to the State Governor, the main agitation of the Joint Action Committee centred on non-payment to its members the #35,000 palliative to cushion the effects of Removal of Petrol Subsidy by the Federal Government.
The Deputy Governor however commended the union leaders for embracing peaceful approach in pursuing their agitation , noting that the Ayedatiwa Administration will always welcome decent and constructive engagements
“Dear comrades, you didn’t give me a prior notice of your coming, despite that, in less than five minutes I was informed of your being around, I put aside everything to attend to you.
*This underscores our commitments to peaceful , decent and constructive engagements.
“I assure you that I will present your issue to my boss, the governor. And you will hear from him very soon.”, the Deputy Governor said.
Earlier,the State Chairman of the Joint Action Committee, JAC, Comrade Tayo Ogungbeni congratulated Chief Olayide Adelami on his assumption of duties as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
He appreciated Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa for the choice of Chief Adelami who he described as a top-flight bureaucrat and a perfect combination with Governor Ayedatiwa for the advancement of Ondo State.
Comrade Ogungbeni pleaded with the Deputy Governor to help secure approval of the State Governor for the payment of #35,000 palliative to all his members across tertiary institutions in the state which all other state workers in Ondo State have enjoyed for three months now.
The Joint Action Committee, JAC, which is the umbrella body for all non- academic unions in Universities in the state had its officials in the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko; Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa and University of Medical Sciences, Ondo present at the courtesy visit.
Also Hon. Dr. Olayemi Adeyemi and the Administrative Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Mr Idowu Ojo joined to the Deputy Governor to receive the visitors.
