Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Oladiji Olamide has embarked on a renewable energy project with a view to facilitating regular power supply to towns and villages in the entire Ondo Kingdom.
The renewable power project combines wind and solar energy to generate power supply to the nooks and crannies of the town.
The project is being executed in collaboration with an Indian company with a bilateral agreement of forty percent and sixty percent respectively.
Under the arrangement, the beneficiaries will meet up with forty percent of the cost while the foreign based company will meet up with the balance of sixty percent.
While speaking on the benefits of the project, at a summit in Ondo town, Chief Oladiji called on well-meaning indigenes of Ondo to key into it as an alternative to the epileptic power supply being experienced across the country.
He called on hoteliers, artisans and other residents to key into the renewable power supply project as a way of repositioning their economic potentials.
The Speaker who was optimistic that the power project will be replicated across Ondo State, solicited the support of the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, towards ensuring the success of the programme.
Special Adviser to the Speaker on energy, Tope Adegboye was optimistic of the massive economic benefits of the project in view of the positive feedback from communities that have already benefited.
The renewable power project has already taken off in some communities in Ondo East including Fagbo among others .
The High Chief Lisa and Prime Minister of Ondo Kingdom Chief Oguntimehin and the Sasere, High Chief Adeduro who both represented the Kabiyesi, spoke about the project, promising to mobilise for the success of the project in view of its enormous benefits.
The occasion was graced by political associates of the Speaker, traditional rulers, artisans, bankers and professionals.
