Some Traders in Akure, Ondo state on Saturday protested the alleged killing of one of them by some unknown soldiers.

The traders barricaded the Mobil area of the popular Arakale Road, halting vehicular movements and business transactions while the protest lasted.

One of the traders who did not want his name mentioned said trouble started when one of the soldiers mobilized his colleagues to ask for a refund for a service rendered by the deceased trader.

This situation, according to him, led to arguments between the soldier and the trader during which he was allegedly stabbed by the soldiers, leading to his  death.

Another trader who also preferred anonymity alleged that the soldiers beat up both the trader alongside members of his family into coma before the deceased was stabbed.

A team of policemen later arrived the scene to ensure that the issue did not escalate.

The divisional Police officer who led the team declined interview saying he was not authorized to speak to journalists
