The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency( NDLEA) Kwara State Command, says it will be more visible in sports events to reduce drug trafficking among the youth.

 

The state Commander of NDLEA , Mohammed Ibrahim made the disclosure while speaking with members of Sports Writers Association (SWAN) in Ilorin.

 

According to him, the decision is borne out of recent challenges faced in policing drug traffickers in the State.

 

He said the glamorization of drug use by youths makes them more vulnerable to drug abuse.

 

Commander Ibrahim expressed worry over alleged sales of drugs by adults, handlers to athletes .

 

He said the command had recently secured conviction of a coach caught selling drugs to young athletes in his care.

 

In a remark the Chairman Sports Writers Association of Nigeria ,SWAN ,Kwara state Chapter,Ayodeji Ismail assured that the association will re-train members to properly report the dangers of drug abuse among the youths.
