The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan,has launched an educational support fund for children of late journalists and female journalists who are widows in the State.
A total of ten beneficiaries were presented with N50,000 each as by the CPS, who promised that the gesture will be repeated at the beginning of each academic term (three times a year) as long as he remains in office as CPS to the Governor.
Presenting a cheque of N500,000 to the Chairperson of the Ondo State Council of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Tola Gbadamosi, Prince Adeniyan said the gesture was borne out of the love Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has for media practitioners in the State.
Speaking the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist, Ondo state council, Prince Leke Adegbite said the governors gesture will go a long way at improving their life and children most especially as school resume, urged the Widows to always contact the union for assistance when needs arise.
While appreciating the Ondo state government, the Ondo NAWOJ chairperson, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi lauded the CPs for championing the cause of the association, promise to work with his office for a better state.
Present at the presentation program which was held at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure are vice chairman, Ondo NUJ, Comrade Hakeem Gbadamosi and the state secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Oluwatosin Ighoteguono.
