As part of efforts to revamp the Health Sector for enhance service Delivery, the Edo State Government has presented certificates of graduation for the second batch of forty two community based first responders into the emergency response team of the state.
Briefing Newsmen on the outcome of the event, Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Samuel Ali said the community based first responders were trained on emergency services to administer first aid and care to Victims before the arrival of an Ambulance.
He explained that the gesture was Governor’s Obaseki holistic approach to provide health care system in the state.
In a remark, provost Edo School of Nursing, Prof. Patricia Ukagwes said she was very happy that Edo state has keyed into the gesture and commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for the development.
Prof. Ukagwes urged the graduands to live up to expectation and advised them not to see themselves as Medical Doctors or Nurses but first aiders and care givers
Some of the graduands, appreciated Edo state government for the training and promised to live up to their responsibilities.
With this development, a total of 180 students are now graduates of community based first respondents trained by the Edo State Government following the earlier graduation of the first batch held in February this year.
