As part of measures to cushion the devastating effect of hunger in the state, Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has officially launched the first round of the Edo food support program, a Christian feeding program.
The flag off event held at the Baptist Convention ground, TV Road, Benin City, would ensure the distribution of Twenty seven thousand 10kg bags Rice to the poor and vulnerable across the seven Local Government Areas of Edo South
In a message at the occasion, Governor Godwin Obaseki said the development was borne out of the need to fight hunger and hardship in the land.
He explained that in order to enhance transparency in the distribution of the food items, the State Government had to involve the Edo state Leadership of the Christian Association Of Nigeria, CAN in other forestal tagging the event as a political one seeing they were the closet persons to the poor and vulnerable in the State.
