Rivers United football club of Port Harcourt have sacked Stanley Eguma, who is the longest serving coach in the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL having been on the post for the past 16 years.
He was tasked to win at Remo Stars in a rescheduled NPFL, but instead the team lost.
Assistant coach Evans Ogenyi has now stepped in as head coach.
Rivers United, who reached the quarterfinal of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, are 11th on the NPFL table.
They have 41 points from 29 matches
