Ondo State commissioner for youth and sports development Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye says the recent reshuffling of the state football teams is yielding positive results.

Mr Yusuf-Ogunleye stated this following Sunshine stars 1-0 home win in a rescheduled match day 27 of the Nigeria Premier football league NPFL at the Ondo state sports complex Akure.

Mr Saka-Ogunleye who could not hide his joy appreciated fans and other stakeholders in the sports business for their input with a promise that the team would gradually move away from the relegation zone.

He further said the recent rejig of the teams CRF of the Ondo state football agency ODSFA payed off as already relegated Sunshine Queens defeated Green foot to progress to round 16 of the 2024 president FA cup while Sunshine piped Rivers united.

Earlier, Sunshine Stars coach Kennedy Boboye hailed his players for carrying out his tactical instructions on the field with the assurance of improving on their scoring chances in the remaining NPFL matches.

Also speaking, Rivers united coach Evans Ogenyi attributed the team’s defeat to the marathon rescheduled matches stressing that Rivers united deserved some respect for their representation in the CAF league.

Mr Ogenyi said Rivers united’s achievement in the CAF league again paved way for more NPFL teams participation therefore should not be choked with their rescheduled matches.

With the win in Akure, Sunshine Stars now occupiy seventeen position on the Nigerian Football League Log.
