The Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr Abbas Tajudeen has urged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to as a matter of urgency constitute a reconciliation committees at various zones and states to bring back all those offended in the party.
Abbas who stated this during the APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Northwest in Kaduna, said such action would bring more successes to the party as one big political family.
The speaker noted that some members of the APC were aggrieved nationwide, hence the need to reconcile with them for the progress of the party.
“I want to call on the National Chairman and our party and Executives to ensure peaceful coexistence among all party members. As previous speakers have said, we are bedeviled with many issues in different states, in every local government.
“It is time to draw a line. Elections are over; this is time for governance. We should forget what has happened; let’s forgive one another; let’s embrace one another.
Dr Abbas commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving some key positions to the Northwest, saying that, the zone should appreciate him by redoubling its efforts in 2027.
The Speaker further called on the party leaders at different levels to support the party structures as well as the party not not only during elections but at all times.
In a remark, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Gandjuje said plans were on to establish the proposed National Institute of Progressive Study.
Dr Ganduje noted that, the National Secretariat had gotten certificate of recognition from the Corporate Affairs Commission, and other relevant stakeholders that included the Federal Ministries of Education, Justice and the National Board for Technical Education.
“The Institute seeks to facilitate training of party members, promoting the ideals of good governance and practice of progressive ideology and political best practices”
He stressed the urgent need for party stakeholders to engage in massive sensitization of Nigerians on the giant strides of administration of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu to facilitating a Nigeria that truly works for all classes of Nigerians.
Dr Ganduje maintained that, the leadership of the APC was structuring the party into a truly grassroots progressive party, urged governors to ensure that, it have full-fledged, functional offices in every political wards and states to enable members across the country to have symbolic representation in their neighborhood.
This measure, according to him will ensure that, party activities are rolled out all year round not during political campaigning and elections only
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s effort at developing the region which include the contract awarded worth N230 billion to build Kano Eastern Bypass.
“The road which is 37kms long will link Dawanau and Maiduguri Road and will include bridges and several flyovers”
Dr Ganduje reaffirm his commitment to the ideals of APC to set new standards and benchmarks in the nation’s democratic sphere and ensuring the sustenance and continuation of the APC government at all levels.
In his address, the Coordinating Governor of APC in the North West and Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Uba Sani said the Stakeholders Meeting was an opportunity for them to critically look at the state of the APC in the North – West with a view to make efforts to resolve pending issues, and chart the pathway to a more formidable zonal structure that will ensure victory for the party in future elections.
Governor Sani explained that, there is no human organization or institution that does not face challenges, hence the need for all stakeholders of APC to recognize the party challenges and take measures to address them.
He urged the party members to always adopt the consensus approach to the resolution of pressing issues. saying that, It a win -win approach that helps in building and sustaining peace and unity.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu Development Agenda has positively impacted the North West Zone, especially in the areas of Human Capital Development, Agriculture, Education, Poverty Alleviation, and Infrastructural Development.
“I urge APC stakeholders in the North West to continue to support and cooperate with our dear President. He means well for our dear country. The current pains being felt are only temporary. The reforms are beginning to bear positive fruits. The future looks bright”
Governor Uba Sani commended Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau and other members for pursuing the passage of the North West Development Commission Bill.
In his welcome address, the National Vice Chairman APC North West, Alhaji Garba Datti Babawo, said the purpose gathering was to deliberate on issues of common interest in the North West Zone.
Alhaji Datti Babawo noted that, a fundamental issue that must be addressed was the spate of suspensions that has become a trend whereby the Party, particularly at Ward level, purportedly suspends prominent party members.
According to him, they are aware that, the problems in Kano and Zamfara states, were being instigated by individuals impersonating as members of the APC Party but who are actually moles working for the opposition parties.
He explained that under the APC Party amended Constitution, no organ of the Party at any level has the power to suspend members of the party from the Party until due process has been complied with at all levels after which the National Working Committee (NWC) has the final say.
Alhaji Babawo stressed that, no member of the Party can be suspended without recourse to the National Working Committee NWC. saying that such suspensions are unconstitutional, null and void and the status quo ante remains.
Governors Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, Jigawa and Deputy governor of Sokoto, some members of the senate and House of Representatives from the zone, Serving and Former Ministers as well as Former governors among other critical stakeholders.
