Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has advocated the protection of children against any form of abuse irrespective of status, tribe,class and location.
The governor spoke at the 2024 children’s day celebration held at the Gani Fawehimi arcade ground in Akure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that no sacrifice was too much for the children and asked them to be bold enough to report to the appropriate authorities any abuse against them from any quarter either at home or school .
He disclosed that his administration was currently recruiting teachers in the state and also add more shuttle buses to make learning convenient for the school children while government also paid the SSCE examination fees.
Earlier in an address, commissioner for women affairs and social development Mrs Lọla Fagbemi appealed to parents and caregivers not to relent in guiding the children right while also making adequate provisions for them to achieve their aspirations.
The theme for this year’s children day celebration is Building a brighter future for the children.
Highpoint of the occasion included a match past by various schools, cultural dance and presentation of gifts to the governor by the student.
