A suspected female arsonist has been arrested by the Ondo State Security Network code named “Amotekun” after she allegedly burnt a shop and an adjourning building in Odode-Idanre, Idanre local government area of Ondo State.

The shop, located along Broad Street, opposite Christ School, Idanre, got burnt around 10.30pm. on Tuesday, according to Mrs Beatrice Adeuti, the shop owner, she lost assorted goods like herbal concoctions, clothes and electronic appliances such as Refrigerator, Deep freezer, electric fans, stabilizer and herbs with serious damages to the roof and wall of the adjoining building.

Mrs Adeoti said her loss would be around Three million Naira (#3,000,000.00).

Radio Nigeria saw an old woman of above hundred years, Mrs Julianah Aderibigbe that was rescued when the fire spread to her building which the shop was attached to.

Meanwhile, the operatives of Amotekun corps have arrested the suspected arsonist said to be a mother of one.

An officer of the Ondo State Security Network who preferred anonymity confirmed the arrest of the suspect, promising that she would be handed over to the appropriate authority

 

In recent times, there have been suspicious fire outbreaks in Idanre where shops were allegedly set on fire by people yet unknown.
