Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Oyo-Osun Area command, says it generated over six point three billion Naira from seizures of contraband items in May, 2023
The Area Commander of the command, Dr Ben Oramalugo stated this at a news briefing held at its headquarters, Agodi Ibadan.
Dr Oramalugo explained that the additional amount brought the total income generated by the command to over thirty point six billion Naira between January and May, this year.
Itemizing the items to include premium motor spirits, cannabis sativa, foreign parboiled rice and used tyres, The Area commander, who noted that smuggling is reducing in Oyo and Osun, said the command would not rest until it achieved zero percent in smuggling.

The Area commander of the NCS, Oyo-Osun state command noted that the porosity of the nation’s border has contributed greatly to banditry and smuggling in the nation.
Dr Oramalugo further stated that the introduction of advanced technology including electronic-confirmation of vehicle documents, monitoring through drone has assisted greatly in combating smuggling.
Highlight of the briefing was the handing over of cannabis sativa worth over twenty one million naira to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Oyo state command.
