…….As Ohinoyi Of Ebiraland Emphasizes on Critical Roles of Traditional Rulers At Combating Territorial  Infiltration……

 

 

Kogi State Governor, Mr Usman Ododo has called for combined efforts at curbing rampant kidnappings, abductions and other criminal issues on the nation’s highways.

 

Governor Ododo made the call when he played host to the leadership of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti EKSU Alumni Association Worldwide, led by the Global President, Engr Dipo Bamisaye, at his residence in Okenne, Kogi State.

The Governor who acknowledged that the topic “Interrogating the Place of Information Gathering and Intelligence Sharing in the Security Architecture, Management of a Multi-Bordered Confluence State”, emphasized on the need for neighboring states on the road networks like Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Nasarawa, Enugu, Anambra, Benue, Niger, FCT and Kwara to form a common front at confronting the menace headlong.

The Governor maintained that the level of insecurity in the country has became threat to human existence and would affect generations yet unborn hence the need for urgent solutions.

 

“We cannot continue to fold our arms and allow the situation to degenerate to a level of disrepair and continuous threat”.

“The ugly trend has to be stopped as we must strategise and work with relevant security agencies and stakeholders in order to make the roads and commuters safe”.

 

Responding, EKSU Alumni Association Global President, Engr Dipo Bamisaye said the visit was imperative in view of the relationship between the Kogi State Governor, the Alumni body and the Ekiti State University community which culminate to award given the governor early this year by the Institution.

Engr Bamisaye commended the combatant and can-do spirit of Governor Ododo at fighting the heinous crime been perpetrated by evil minded people in Nigeria.

 

Also at the palace of Ohinoyi of Ebira-land, the Monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Alhaji Muhammed Anaje stressed on the need for traditional rulers to be more vigilant in protecting their territories.

 

King Anaje commended the EKSU Alumni Association for chosen Kogi State, especially Okenne as the venue for the 2nd reunion lecture with the rate of kidnappings and abductions recorded in the axis.

The monarch promised to work hand in gloves with other traditional rulers and stakeholders in the state and boundary states towards enhancing security of lifes and property.

 

The Alumni Global President, Engr Bamisaye while congratulating the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland on his recent coronation commended the working relationship between him and the state government.

 

Engr Bamisaye used the medium to appreciate the level of efforts embarked on by the former Governor Yahaya Bello at ensuring security in Kogi State.

 

The visits were part of the activities lined up for the Public lecture and awards ceremony of the Kogi State chapter of the Alumni Association.

 

The visit had in attendance the Immediate Past President of the association, Dr Oludotun Adetunberu, Global Secretary, Pastor Isaac Akinleye, PRO, Dcn. Olumide Abudu, Auditor, Barr Akinyemi Borode, Social Director, Mrs Folasade Olusegun, Ex-Officio/Sergeant-at-arm, Barr Sunday Adelokiki, Osun Chapter Chairman, Mr Daniel Akande and former PRO, Mr Adefela Adeleye.
