The Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Ondo State Chapter has called on the state government under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to make studying of Yoruba language and History as compulsory subjects in private and public schools in the state.
Similarly, the Group has advised the people of Ondo state to embark on massive small and large scales farming as part of steps to force down prices of food items in the country.
The group took the decision at its periodic meeting held in Akure which was presided over by the State Chairman, Chief Korede Duyile and attended by chieftains of the organisation who are from Ondo State including Basorun Sehinde Arogbofa and Chief Femi Aluko.
Afenifere advised the State Government to adopt as part of its educational policies, the Yoruba language and history as compulsory subjects to be taught in schools.
The Yoruba group also called on the Federal Government to mandate the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to reverse recent suspension of Heritage Bank licence as part of measures to sustain major legacies of the first Civilian Governor of Ondo state, Pa Adekunle Ajasin, who established Owena bank that transformed to Heritage bank.
Ondo chapter of Afenifere also urged the Ondo state government to continue the funding of Amotekun Security Network and other security agencies in the state to ensure safety of residents especially rural dwellers who engage in farming.
