Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election slated for November 16th in Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has received hundreds of various women groups from old Okitipupa division into the APC fold.
Receiving the defectors at the Zion Gospellers church in Ayika-Igbodigo in Okitipupa local government area of the state Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to give more attention to women friendly programs.
While commending the bold step taken by the women who mostly were traders and artisans, the Governor assured them that his administration would encourage more youths,women associations to venture into businesses to make them self employed.
He also promised massive infrastructural development such as the rehabilitation of rural road networks, rural electrification projects and extend the ongoing employment process into the teaching and medical lines to the people of Okitipupa local government.
Leader of the defectors and a former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP member Mrs Esther Ebiwonjumi promised to mobilize other traders for Aiyedatiwa’s victory come November 16th.
Speaking on behalf of the council of primates in Okitipupa Dr Joshua Akintan commended the various developmental programs ongoing in the state and prayed for the governor’s success.
Among those who accompanied the governor to the occasion included special adviser to the governor on women affairs,and education Dr Seun Osamaye and Dr Olawunmi Ilawole among other government functionaries from the southern senatorial district.
