Over Four hundred thousand dollars worth of hospital equipment have been donated to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital by foreign donors.
This was made known during the official handing over of the equipment to the State Government at an event held at the hospital premises.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Government and people of the state, Governor Caleb Mutfwang thanked the international donors for the kind gesture and emphasized the need for more support from other relevant partners for the improvement of the health sector.
He also stressed the need for the rehabilitation of some structures in the hospital which he noted were built several years ago and were in dare need of rehabilitation.
Governor Mutfwang at occasion also cleared the air on rumours surrounding the distribution of some food items from the Federal Government.
Earlier, state Commissioner for Health Doctor Cletus Shimkur explained that the donation was part of the outcome of engagements by the State Government’s trip to the United States in search of partners towards supporting the improvement of health care delivery in the State.
Also speaking, State technical adviser on Development Partnerships Mister Manji Wilson disclosed that various hospital equipment and drugs worth over four hundred thousand dollars have been supplied to the state
Some of the donors remarked that the gesture would strengthen further collaboration towards meeting the needs assessments of the hospital.
In his goodwill message, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mister Gabriel Dream assured local and international partners of the assembly’s support.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of some of the equipments including a motorized wheelchair to beneficiaries.
