We have taken our time to peruse the statement credited to APC as responses to our accusation of Governor Ayedatiwa’s frantic attempt to repackage Federal Government palliatives allocated to Ondo State with a view to using same to promote his gubernatorial ambition. We regret to note that the responses were watery, worthless, wandering, and clearly indicative of the writers, wallowing in utter darkness and incurable confusion.

One would have expected a serious organization to be more specific and unambiguous in its responses to matters of public interest but we are not utterly surprised at such reckless, thoughtless and shameless responses because APC Is notorious for offering frivolous, ridiculous and vexatious responses to matters which the public holds very dear. We understand the inconveniences and excruciating discomfort of a party trying to defend a government that does not carry it along.

However, our party had hoped that our revelation, would have triggered well-thought out responses as to who, how and where the said palliatives were distributed or how the govt intends to share them transparently and equitably. We thought that a responsible government should differentiate between interventionist programmes of government aimed at alleviating self-inflicted hunger and deprivation that are being experienced in every home, from a party affair where a party corners what belongs to the general public as if it belonged to such party.

Under the interventionist progranmes of government, appropriate agency of government ought to set up an inter-party committee that will involve all the relevant stakeholders with the sole purpose of sharing the palliatives transparently and equitably to all and sundry without any form of discrimination. Lamentably, we are yet to receive invitation for such committee.

For a party to now mindlessly attempt to hoodwink the public by claiming that such palliatives had been shared to all the 203 wards as if we are not resident in Ondo State, is to say the least, fraudulent, terrifying, infuriating, unconscionable, and a stark confirmation that the government is truly out of touch with the reality of hunger, anger, deprivation and devastation that have permeated all the strata of the society, occasioned by APC’s ineptitude and misgovernance.

Governance is a serious business. We therefore, with every sense of patriotism, urge the APC-led government of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa to show capacity, pragmatic leadership and seriousness in governance, at least, for once by thoroughly accounting for the management and distribution of the palliatives to the targeted section of the society.

Leye Igbabo,
Director of Media and Publicity PDP, Ondo State.
