Two Hundred and Fifty sets of desktop computers has been presented to Igbaja Computer Based Testing, CBT, centre in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The desktop computers provided by the Kwara State Government is to support Igbaja Community and ease the sitting of JAMB and other CBT exams for school children.
The CBT Centre was built by Major General Adelokun Eyitayo as part of a special intervention project of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoheed Lagbaja.
Presenting the gadgets, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the step was to reduce the challenges faced by students of the district during the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB, examinations.
Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Mary Arinde, re-emphasized that education is the cornerstone for every human development, hence his administration’s policies and programmes on education are taken with all seriousness.
In a remark, the Elese of Igbajaland, Oba Ahmed Awuni Arepo, commended the Governor’s gesture which he stressed that would go a long way in assisting their school children on computer based knowledge.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, explained that the facility would be of great benefit to over twenty secondary schools in Igbajaland and its environs.
Some students who spoke on the sideline of the event, appreciated the Governor for his commitment to educational development, noting that the centre in Igbaja community would reduce the burden of transportation and other expenses usually incurred by their parents for travelling outside the community for external CBT exams.
