Over one hundred orphans in Ondo state have benefitted from the “BACK TO SCHOOL” initiative of the Strongtower widows and orphans foundation in partnership with Blue Dive technologies.
The “BACK TO SCHOOL initiative” is an annual outreach aimed at providing support to orphans in their academic pursuit.
During the programme which held at the St Mary de virgin Anglican Church Alagbaka, Akure, the orphans, accompanied by their guidance were presented with School bags, socks, food flasks, water bootles, notebooks and other writing materials.
Speaking at the event, Ondo state commissioner for Education, Mr Laolu Akindolire, represented by Mrs Funke Ademuyiwa commended the organisers for the gesture especially with the current economic situation in the country.
Mr Akindolire urged other well meaning Nigerians to reach out to the less privileged while also urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials given them.
President of Women-led Non governmental organisations in Akure, Mrs Folake Esan also appreciated the facilitator and encouraged the children not to limit themselves but pursue their life goals with determination.
The CEO, Blu dive technologies, Abdul-azeez Musa represented by the administrative manager, Miss Queen Edet said the company supported the “BACK TO SCHOOL initiative” to put smiles on the faces of many less privileged in the society and advised them to be focused.
The convener and CEO of Strongtower widows and orphans foundation, Mrs Etana Elvis-ogbebor who said she had been reaching out to orphans and widows for the past seven years pointed out that she was inspired by life experiences.
Mrs Elvis-Ogbebor who appreciated her partners for the success of the programme, however solicited the support of government and well meaning Individuals to enable her to assist more orphans in the society
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Tope Adewale thanked the facilitators for the gesture especially at the time when they were about to resume for a new academic session.
