The federal government has again reaffirmed it’s commitment to finding lasting solution to sea incursion in the riverine areas of Ondo state.
The minster of state for environment Dr Razak Salako gave the commitment at a forum in Akure.
Dr Salako said the federal government was in touch with the Ondo state government on how to resolve the various environmental challenges in the state disclosing that the federal government was pleased with governor Aiyedatiwa’s effort at ensuring a cleaner environment.
In a remark, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said his administration was worried by the habit of dumping refuse and plastics on water ways across the state hence the deployment of an amphibious escavator to the three senatorial districts to clear major water ways and avoid recurrence of flooding which destroyed property in Ondo town.
The governor however called on industries limit the use of nylon and other plastics materials which always take years to decompose.
While commending stakeholders in the state for the recent improvement in environmental sanitation especially in Akure the state capital, the governor urged everyone to at all time maintain a cleaner environment.
Governor Aiyedatiwa announced that a proper site would be mapped out for the activities of scavengers.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of an award of environmental friendly governor to Mr Aiyedatiwa.
