Ondo state governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has applauded the Federal University of Technology Akure FUTA and the entire university community for thier impact in the development of the educational sector in the state and country.
Governor Aiyedatiwa stated this at the 34th and 35th convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), which took place at the university auditorium.
Governor Aiyedatiwa who congratulated the graduands, commending their perseverance and dedication, lauded FUTA’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji and the University Management for their exceptional contributions to education, research and technological innovations.
The governor urged the graduands to be exemplary ambassadors of the institution by upholding the virtues of integrity, hard work and resilience.
Speaking on his administration’s achievements and programs, the governor said education in the past four years had been successful including payment of regular salaries, budgetary provisions and financial interventions for state-owned institutions.
He assured the University Community of continued collaboration and an enabling environment to promote academic development and innovation.
The governor appreciated president Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of a Federal Teaching Hospital in Akure and also announced the release of the state specialist hospital as a take off point.
During her welcome address, the Vice chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji emphasized that the institution remained committed to fostering excellence in education, researches and innovations.
Prof Oladiji congratulated the graduands, describing them as the pride of FUTA.
She also commended their hard works, dedications,
and resilience which had led to their academic achievements.
Among those who were honoured included the general overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Dr Daniel Olukoya with an honorary doctorate degree and former Ondo State first lady Mrs Betty Anyawu Akeredolu who backed doctorate degree.
During the event, the university conferred postgraduate diploma, Masters and Doctoral degrees to 1,280 graduands: PGD 344, Masters 756 and Ph.D. 180.
Meanwhile, the institution produced no fewer than 6,500 undergraduates with 519 students with first class honours degrees, 3,408 with second class upper, 2,139 with second class lower and 339 in the third class division.
