The Ekiti State Government has challenged officers of the Nigeria Police to be more dedicated to their duty and always protect identities of people who volunteered to give them information in order to make the state a crime free.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji gave the challenge in Ado Ekiti while playing host to the new Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Eribo and other senior officers.

Describing effective policing as catalyst to meaningful development, Governor Oyebanji explained that his administration places high premium on the safety of lives and property of all residents in Ekiti, Urging security agencies to make the state unsafe for criminals.

 

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, Governor Oyebanji also emphasized the need for security Agencies to always protect the identity of people who volunteered useful information on the nefarious activities of some criminals.

Governor Oyebanji who commended the Nigeria Police and other security Agencies for their efforts to sustain the existing peace in Ekiti, assured them of a smooth working relationship.

 

He said that his administration would not tolerate killing, kidnapping, rape and other heinous crimes.

The Governor advised the new CP to work closely with other law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to maintain law and order across Ekiti State.

 

Earlier, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Eribo said the aim of his visit was to create a synergy on the need to fight common enemy in the society.

Mr Eribo also sought the state government support for the police in order to address whatever challenges facing them in carrying out their duty effectively.

 

The CP called for the cooperation of residents of Ekiti so as to rid the state of criminal activities.
