Thorough and adequate breastfeeding have been described as a source of brilliance, good health and steady growth during the early stage of life of a child.

A director of nursing from Akoko north west local government area primary care authority, Mrs Oluyemi Abeleje made this known in a lecture to mark the 32nd edition of annual babies award initiated by an Afin Akoko-born philanthropist, Alhaji Ibrahim kilani.

 

The award is to encourage pregnant and nursing mothers to patronise Afin Akoko basic health centre.

Mrs Abeleje said breastfeeding is cheaper and safe for mental alertness of a growing children without much ailments.

She appealed to people to always patronise health facilities established in all political wards in Ondo state for adequate health attention.

In another lecture on the birthday of Alhaji kilani, the resource person Pastor Segun Arowolo described the celebrant as a man of many parts who has touched many lives.

He attested to his selfless services to humanity and the less privileged in the society.

In her own. address the officer in charge at the health centre, Afin Akoko Mrs Bosede Ugwudike said the annual programe has brought more awareness to the people in the rural areas urging others to emulate Alhaji Ibrahim kilani to compliment the effort of government.

Highlights of the program included distribution of gifts to children and their mothers, health talk and cutting of birthday cake with the celebrant, Alhaji kilani by dignitaries who came to witness the occasion .

In a remark, Alhaji Kilani appealed to Ondo state government to expedite actions on the recruitment of
health workers to replace those who have retired or on Japa adventure.
