The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has reiterated the commitment of the Scheme to ensure that corps members attain their dreams under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

The State Coordinator made this known during the Inter-Platoon competition/exhibition climaxing the SAED activities for the 2024 Batch ‘C’ (Stream II) orientation course.

Bakare, who lauded the satisfactory performance of corps members at their various centres during the hands-on training, declared that the management of the noble Scheme would stop at nothing to ensure that corps members have necessary support and information required to succeed in their chosen skills and vocations.

The State Coordinator asserted that the Scheme has all it takes to turn around the economy of this country for the better if Government at all levels as well as organised private sectors provided technical support and grant for the teeming graduate youths.

“My dearest entrepreneurs, future captains of industries and CEOs, NYSC will not allow you to wander in the labour market or grope in the dark but will continue, in conjunction with funding organisations such as Retail financial institutions, non governmental organisations and international agencies provide grant, loans and other relevant information to you to aid your breakthrough in the ever-challeging business environment” she declared.

“The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme in line with the vision of the founding fathers established SAED programme almost thirteen (13) years ago to address the unemployment of graduate youths after completing their one year mandatory service to the fatherland. I am happy to inform you that those who embraced the intervention ever since it was established have good stories to tell, and rather, being employees, they are proud owners of fledging businesses and employers, thereby contributing to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation’s economy”.

While declaring all competitors as winners and saluting their courage, determination and boldness to represent their platoons despite the little time for the training, the State Coordinator appealed to those who took the in-camp training with levity or less enthusiasm to have a rethink and embrace the post-camp training with all seriousness.

She thanked everyone who participated to make the programme a huge success to continue in that stead for the incoming successive corps members.

In her welcome remarks, the Assistant Director/Head, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, Pastor (Mrs.) Jennifer Funmilola Dawodu admonished corps members to take advantage of the intervention to secure their future and the future of generations yet unborn.

The Head, SAED charged members of the service corps to take advantage of various funding introduced to them in the course of the training to build an empire for themselves.

Pastor Dawodu encouraged the beneficiaries of the NYSC intervention programme to network with each other and take advantage of digital marketing and ICT to make their brand known to the world.

She equally acknowledged the immense contributions of the Facilitators/Trainers for investing in the lives of the future brand ambassadors and business mogul that were waiting to take the world by storm.

Corps members competed in such skills as Fashion Designing, Catering and culinary services, Gele tying and Public Speaking/Education.
