Ondo state house of assembly says it has received over 10 petitions on cases of land grabbing and forceful entry.

The speaker Mr Olamide Oladiji made the disclosure at plenary

Mr Oladiji said despite that The house passed the anti land grabbing law on December 24 and was signed by governor lucky Aiyedatiwa, the activities of land grabbers have been on the rise.

This, he said had led to destruction of economic trees such as cocoa, farms and valuable propertys.

To this effect, the house in a resolution read by the speaker set up an eight man committee to investigate the petitions received and report to the house in two weeks.

8. Mr. Adeyeku Richard – Secretary

The house also seek for the formation of a special taskforce who will work with law enforcement agents to curtail the activities of the miscreants.

The resolution also included that the anti land grabbing law passed by the house should be gazetted by the ministry of justice while adequate punishment be meted out to offenders.

 

They added that there must be adequate sensitization and orientation of citizens of the existence of the anti land grabbing law.

In another development, the speaker dissolved all standing committees of the house.
