The Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, has called on veteran broadcasters to document their experiences in books to guide and inspire young professionals in the industry.
Dr. Bulama made the call at the presentation of a book written by the Head of Presentation at the FRCN, Maryam Kehinde Okesanjo, coinciding with the 50th birthday celebration of Maryam and her twin sister, Sekinat Taiwo Okesanjo.
The book, MKO – The Brand: 50 Years of God’s Mercy, Power, and Glory, chronicles Maryam’s journey through life, shaped by faith, resilience, and professional excellence. With 15 chapters, it captures her struggles, triumphs, and the values that have defined her career in broadcasting.
Describing Maryam as a broadcasting icon, Dr. Bulama praised her dedication to the profession, emphasizing the impact she has made on many aspiring broadcasters. He commended her for documenting her experiences, calling the book a “must-read” for professionals and those seeking inspiration.
The book’s reviewer, Mr. Mike Yawe, Executive Director of Business Development at the West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy (WABMA), described it as a guidebook for living a purposeful life with integrity and impact.
Deputy Director of News at FRCN Headquarters, Mallam Suleiman Musa, lauded the book as a source of inspiration, while the celebrants’ elder sister, Taiwo Ajala, noted that it would further strengthen their family bond.
Reflecting on their journey, Maryam and Sekinat expressed gratitude for God’s guidance in overcoming life’s challenges. While Maryam is a seasoned broadcaster and lawyer with FRCN, Sekinat is a professional nurse based in the UK. They shared that fulfilling their late mother’s wish of becoming accomplished professionals has been a driving force in their lives.
The event was attended by family, friends, and colleagues from Nigeria and the UK, celebrating not just a milestone birthday but a legacy of impact and excellence.
