The nine surveyors kidnapped in Akure North Local government area of Ondo state have regained their freedom.

The surveyors were abducted by some gunmen while on site at Ilu-Abo on Tuesday last week.

Confirming the development to Radio Nigeria, Pastor Ajibade Owolanke, brother to their boss and Ejemikin of Akure, High Chief Oluwole Omotayo said the abducted surveyors were released last night after the payment of twenty million naira ransom.

Pastor Owolanke also confirmed that the surveyors were already  in Akure but declined to disclose their location.

Hundreds of women, comprising wives and relatives of the abductees on Tuesday hit the street of Akure to protest the abduction of the surveyors.

 

They Marched from Ijemikin to the Governor’s Office at Alagbaka, appealing to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and security agencies in the state to ensure a safe return of the nine surveyors and also halt the growing spate of kidnapping in Ondo state.
