An NGO with a focus on ” care , love and community building” , ModupeBabs Family Foundation has been launched in Akure the Ondo State capital.
Speaking at the ceremony ,the deputy director, women’s program at the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Olupona applauded ModupeBabs Family Foundation for positively impacting the lives of the less privileged , struggling mothers and widows in the society.
She praised the initiative of the NGO and also appreciated the founder, Mrs Modupe Babalola’s sincerity in caring for widows and the vulnerable.
Mrs Olupona applauded the leadership of ModupeBabs Family Foundation for imbibing transparency in their affairs and asked other NGOs to emulate it.
In an address, the founder of ModupeBabs Family Foundation, Mrs Modupe Babalola said the launch of the NGO coincided with the 14th anniversary of the death of her husband, Pastor Joshua Oluwasanya Babalola .
” Fourteen years ago, we buried a man who very spirit breathed into the lives of so many persons – husband, father , friend and hope for the hopeless, his drive, compassion and unwavering spirit for community service shone as a beacon for all who knew him ”
” He is no longer here in the physical form , yet the essence of why he was lived on through every act of compassion we render in the name of the foundation, the anguish of this loss is one we carry dear to our souls and even in the sorrow of that loss , his memory stands as a monument of strength, signifying to us the greatness of love and selfless service.” She said in a tribute to the late husband
Mrs Babalola revealed that it was the struggle she went through taking care of five children after the death of her husband that motivated her into putting together the NGO for the benefit of a larger people in the society .
” With the same love and dedication, I channelled my pain into something so wonderful, ModupeBabs Foundation serves as a glimmer of hope and light for those who need it most – it’s more than just a name.
” I became a widow with five children when the eldest was in 100 level abroad and the youngest was still in primary four , I was left all alone to fend for our livelihood.”
” I became both parents for my kids and with the help of God , my determination got through the tempest , now my last child is in the university, so when say I empathize with what my fellow widows go through, believe me , I do . ”
” This foundation will provide support, resources and opportunities for widows and create a ripple effect of positive change that can be felt far and wide .”
The NGO founder also encouraged vulnerable widows to rather seek help other than sliding into depression while also appealing to government to always go through credible NGOs such as ModupeBabs Family Foundation which had a wider reach in the society.
” As we unveil this foundation, it is not just about the initiatives we undertake ,the funds we raise not the communities we transform with those funds , it is about the lives we will touch and the hope we will share for widows and the less privileged, it is about lending a voice and a helping hand to the voiceless and struggling.”
” Together, we can build a future that represents the values of this foundation: Care , Love and Community building .”
” We call for the support of governments at all levels as well as spirited individuals, establishments and organisations, local and foreign which are in favour of charity works to partner with us and improve the lives of individuals and families across our nation.” She said
Contributing , the secretary of the foundation, Mrs Abike Akadiri described the NGO as one with a difference run with all openness while members were carried along in all activities.
Also speaking, an official of the Restoration Of Dignity of Womanhood , Mrs Patrick Adedoyin expressed delight at the coming onboard of ModupeBabs Family Foundation to support women in the society , especially the vulnerable.
An undergraduate and beneficiary of the ModupeBabs Family Foundation, Miss Christiana Adutevi spoke of how the foundation sponsored her education to tertiary institution having lost her father as a teenager.
Some other women also spoke of Mrs Babalola’s kind gestures and support which they said made their burden lighter and renewed their hope of forging ahead despite the challenges.
Highpoint of the occasion was the distribution of various packaged food items to over eighty widows in commemoration of the launch of ModupeBabs Family Foundation and 14th remembrance anniversary of the Late Pastor Joshua Oluwasanya Babalola
