A ghastly motor accident which occurred along Ife – Ilesa road , Osun State has claimed the lives of Five persons, including a female child.
The Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun Command, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi confirmed the incident to Newsmen, on behalf of the the Sector Commander, Commander Taofeek Sokunbi.
Commander Sokunbi explained that a White color trailer with no registration number, crushed a Private white colour Toyota Hilux vehicle with registration number: FKJ691HZ and killed five passengers out of the nine passengers involved in the crash.
He explained that the Driver of the white colour trailer was nabbed and handed over to the Police in Edun Abun division.
The State FRSC Boss said the injured female passenger was rushed to a Private Hospital in Ipetumodu, while the Corpses had been taken to the mortuary of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.
Osun FRSC Sector Commander explains ” The road mishap happened at about 10:15am today Saturday,19th April, the affected drivers and passengers included six male adults, two female adults, and one female child”
The State Sector Commander who attributed the cause of the Road Accident to overspeeding and one way traffic violation , however, cautioned road users against offence of route violation among other defaults.
“Road users are however cautioned to desist from the offence of route violation and excessive speeding. He added that the driver is presently in NPF custody and will be charged to court,” Commander Sokunbi warns
He added that a sum of N508,900 which was found in one of the vehicles, had been handed over to relatives of the victims at the scene of the accident.
